Having recently purchased a racing bike, I was sent this message by my daughter (see photo) who has twice attempted the Tour De France route a week before the pro-cyclists set off (once successfully, once defaulting to support with injury!).
“Your mind is your worst enemy. Do all your thinking before you start riding your bike. Once the pedals start to turn, wrap yourself in the sensations of the ride – the smell of the air, the sound of the tyres, the feeling of flight as the bicycle cuts along the road”.
I cannot tell you how true this is. It’s all about getting into the zone like all the top athletes do – you must have seen this during the Olympics; the determination and focus on the athlete’s faces as they are competing – this being in the zone. They are concentrating on only one thing and shutting out all outside distractions to the point where they are deaf, dumb and blind to all else except what they are going for.
At TBC Private Practice we use techniques to show you how to get into the zone and how to take on the qualities of someone you admire, allowing you to mimic their success We build on your focus and self-confidence allowing you to ‘go for it’.
